Face Botox in Mirdif, Dubai works by tipping a balance rather than by switching something off. Your face runs on pairs of muscles that pull against each other, and relaxing one member of a pair lets the other one win. Understanding which pairs you have, and which side you want to win, explains more about your result than any dose figure. Dr. Sarah Magdy assesses that balance before treating, because the muscle you did not treat determines what happens to the one you did.

Your Face Is a Tug-of-War

Facial muscles do not act alone. Almost every one of them has an opponent pulling the opposite way, and where you see a line or a resting expression, you are looking at the outcome of a contest between the two.

That is why the same treatment produces opposite effects in different people. Relaxing a muscle does not simply remove its line. It hands the argument to whatever was pulling against it, and the visible result depends on how strong that opponent happens to be in your face.

Which makes assessment a question about movement rather than about lines. Two people with identical forehead lines can need quite different plans, because the muscles competing beneath them are not equally matched.

Which Muscles Lift, and Which Pull Down

Around the brow

One broad sheet across your forehead lifts the brows, and it is the only muscle that does. Working against it sits a small group between the brows that pulls them down and together, plus fibres at the outer edge of the eye that drag the brow tail downward.

So the brow sits wherever that contest settles. Relax the lifter alone and the brow drops, which our forehead page covers in detail. Relax the depressors alone and the brow rises slightly, because the lifter now works unopposed.

Around the eye

A ring of muscle surrounds each eye and closes it. Its outer portion creases the skin when you smile, and it also pulls down on the brow tail. Treating those outer fibres therefore does two things at once: it softens the lines, and it releases a downward pull on the brow. Our eyelines page explains the lines themselves.

Around the mouth

Muscles running up to the corners of your mouth lift them when you smile. A muscle running down from the corner toward the jaw pulls them the other way, and with age it tends to win, which is why some resting faces read as displeased. Our marionette line page covers that pair.

The neck

A broad sheet across the front of the neck reaches up into the lower face and pulls it downward. It opposes nothing above it in any useful sense, so its pull goes largely uncontested. Our neck page covers what treating it can and cannot do.

Every Treatment Picks a Side

Once you see the pairs, the logic of a plan becomes obvious.

Want a brow that sits a touch higher? Relax the depressors and leave the lifter alone. Want forehead lines gone with the brow unchanged? Treat both sides of the pair, in proportion, so the balance stays where it started. Want the mouth corners to sit higher? Relax the muscle pulling them down. Want a softer pull on the lower face? Address the neck sheet.

None of those is a dose decision. They are all decisions about which side of a contest to weaken, and they come out of watching your face move.

What Happens When You Treat Only One Side

This is where results go wrong, and it rarely gets explained beforehand.

Treat the forehead alone and the brow can settle lower, so patients report feeling heavy across the eyes even though their lines improved. Address the frown on its own and the forehead often compensates by working harder, which brings new lines higher up. Uneven treatment across the outer eye leaves the brows sitting at visibly different heights.

Every one of those is temporary. All of them come from an unbalanced plan rather than from bad luck, and all of them are avoidable by assessing the pair rather than the line.

Using the Balance Deliberately

The interesting part is that this cuts both ways. A practitioner who understands the pairs can use the imbalance on purpose.

Releasing a downward pull produces a modest lift without lifting anything. That is the mechanism behind a slightly raised brow tail, a mouth corner that no longer turns down, and a lower face that feels less dragged. Nobody hoisted anything. An opponent simply stopped pulling.

The effects are subtle and they have limits, since a muscle can only lift as far as its own strength allows. But they explain why some patients describe looking rested rather than treated, and they are unavailable to anyone treating lines one at a time without considering the map.

Why Assessment Looks at Movement, Not Lines

Dr. Sarah Magdy will ask you to raise your brows, frown, squint, smile broadly and clench. That is not a formality. Each of those isolates a different pair, and it shows her which member currently dominates.

She also watches your face at rest, because a resting expression is the sum of every contest going on beneath it. A face that reads as tired or stern at rest is often losing one specific tug-of-war, and identifying which one is more useful than cataloguing the lines.

What the Map Cannot Explain

Muscle balance accounts for lines your movement produces and for resting expression. It accounts for nothing else.

Creases already etched into the skin sit outside it, and our eyelines page explains how to tell yours apart. Hollowing and thinning are volume problems, covered on our dermal fillers page. Loose skin is neither, and no injectable addresses it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why did my brows feel heavy after forehead treatment?

Because the muscle creating your forehead lines is also the only one lifting your brows. Relaxing it without accounting for the muscles pulling downward hands them the contest, and the brow settles lower. It resolves as the treatment fades, and a balanced plan avoids it.

Can Botox lift my brows?

Slightly, and not by lifting anything. Relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down lets the one lifting it work unopposed, so it sits a little higher. The effect is modest and limited by how strong your own lifting muscle is.

Why do new lines appear somewhere else after treatment?

Usually because a muscle its opponent had been holding in check has started working harder. Treating the frown area alone, for instance, can leave the forehead compensating. Assessing the pair rather than the line is how a practitioner prevents it.

Why does my practitioner want to treat two areas instead of one?

Because the two often oppose each other, and treating one alone shifts the balance in a direction you did not ask for. Treating both in proportion keeps your brow or your mouth where it started while still softening the lines.

Can treatment lift my mouth corners?

Relaxing the muscle that pulls a corner downward lets the lifting muscles set the resting position, so the corner can sit a little higher. That is a different mechanism from adding volume, and our marionette line page covers the pair in detail.

Why does the doctor ask me to make faces?

Each expression isolates a different pair of opposing muscles and shows which one currently dominates in your face. Two people with the same lines can need different plans, and the only way to tell is by watching the muscles work.

Will treatment change my resting expression?

It can, and sometimes that is the point. A resting face is the sum of every muscular contest beneath it, so weakening one side of a contest shifts where your face settles when you are not doing anything. Say at consultation whether you want that or specifically do not.

Does this apply to lines etched into the skin?

No. Muscle balance explains lines your movement creates and how your face sits at rest. A crease already set into the skin sits outside it and needs a different approach.

How do I book an assessment?

Ring 04 268 8226 any day between 11:00 AM and 8:00 PM, or message +971 56 598 6039 on WhatsApp. Say what your face does that bothers you rather than naming an area, since the assessment works from movement.
